Fall Program – Learn More and Apply Now!

Lorenzo de’ Medici is located in the heart of Florence and is a small, private educational institution. Students enroll from around the world, and you will live and learn in a rich, multi-cultural environment.

The main school building is on Via Faenza and dates back to the 13th century and was originally a convent connected to a medieval church. The school prides itself on offering courses that supplement traditional classroom learning by taking advantage of the historical and cultural heritage of Florence and the surrounding Tuscan region.

You will live and learn in galleries, gardens, palaces, churches, and museums as well as in the traditional classroom setting. Students have raved about the individual attention and dedicated faculty from Italy and around the world. All courses are taught in English except Italian language. Students are required to take at least one 3-credit Italian language course (during this fall program), and you can start as a complete beginner to advanced. Classes are offered in nearly all disciplines.

Students live in apartments that are scattered around the city and are usually within walking distance to the school. You will have weekends and a mid-semester break to explore Italy and other European countries. Please look over the Application Packet for specific information on the upcoming semester.

Summer Program Learn More and Apply Now!

Join us this summer while living, learning, and traveling in Italy. This four-week program offers Monmouth students an opportunity to live in their own apartment in Florence, take 6 credits, and travel on weekends! We are affiliated with Lorenzo de’ Medici, a leading study abroad institution with more than 30 years of providing a wide range of high-quality academic programs to suit the needs of a large and diverse student population coming from all over the world.

You will discover how Florence is the cradle of the Renaissance civilization, the place where Dante, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Galileo—to name a few—changed the way we see the world. Extraordinarily rich in history and ancient traditions, the city with its world-famous artistic heritage offers students a wide spectrum of cultural events and learning opportunities. For centuries travelers of art, cuisine, and culture have fallen in love with this city and the stunning Tuscan countryside that surrounds it. This program will offer a once-in-a-lifetime chance to live in this beautiful and friendly city while taking classes toward your Monmouth degree.

Monmouth students will live in fully furnished apartments and cook their own meals. The apartments are scattered around the city, and most are within a 10-20 minute walk to the school. You will live among regular Italian citizens and experience the unique feeling of being truly immersed in this city and culture. There are many “extras” covered in the program fee, and the students will be accompanied for the first two weeks by a Monmouth professor, to assure a smooth first experience for our students.

Classes are taught in English, except Italian Language courses. Course offerings for the summer program are in the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Business, Political Science, Studio Arts, and Italian Language. Students are required to take six credits and can fulfill the Experiential Education Requirement (if applicable for their major) during this four-week summer program.
