Elena (Ellie) Mazza has been a full-time faculty member at Monmouth University since January 2001 and the BSW program director since 2014. Ellie enjoys teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses. Her area of expertise is in child, adolescent, and adult mental health. She continues to work in the community as a clinical consultant providing services to children and families in the Children’s System of Care.Ellie is a current member of team of 20 faculty across the country working on improving child, adolescent, and family mental health curriculum in graduate social work programs.

Research Interests

Mazza, E. (2019-2020). Principal Investigator. Assessment of an interprofessional learning experience with professional athletic trainer and Monmouth University graduate students from social work, speech language pathology, advanced practice nursing and the physician assistants’ programs. IRB submitted February 9, 2020.

Mazza, E., Zabotka, J., Hogan, C., Cuseglio, R., Mama, R. (2020). Monmouth University Community Care Telehealth Clinic. Organized and implemented a free telehealth community counseling service for adults residing in the State of New Jersey. Collaborate with colleagues and MSW interns to implement, supervise, market, and coordinate this initiative.

Behavioral health curriculum development initiative (BHCDI). (2017-2021). Principle Investigator: The National Technical Assistance Network for Children’s Behavioral Health. Funded by: Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Position: Faculty member. Purpose: Develop and disseminate curriculum to improve the knowledge, expertise, and overall preparedness of students in MSW and post-graduate degree programs to provide effective behavioral health services to children, youth and young adults with behavioral health needs and their families.
