    Monmouth's Facility and Lab Space

Monmouth University Health Services Center at Monmouth Park Corporate Center

All PA classes will be held in MU's Health Sciences Center, located in Monmouth Park Corporate Center on Route 36 in West Long Branch, NJ—just two miles from the main Monmouth campus. The building has two classrooms, two large clinical skills laboratories, and library space dedicated to the program. The clinical skills laboratory space is for the exclusive use of PA students. Those in the program will also be welcome to use any resources available on the main campus.

Opportunity to Study in New Jersey

Monmouth will be one of only three universities in New Jersey to offer an entry-level physician assistant program.

    Great Location for Training

x-ray1Because Monmouth is centrally located in New Jersey, PA students will have opportunities to train at various clinical sites in the state. Right now, MU has agreements with sites in these counties: Monmouth, Ocean, Atlantic, and Essex. The program continues to cultivate new sites and will have a complete listing as the program approaches its start of classes.

In Monmouth County alone, there are many renowned hospitals and medical facilities, including Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, and CentraState Medical Center in Freehold.

    Small Classes and Personalized Education

Because no more than 30 individuals will be admitted to the PA program each year, class sizes will be small, enabling students to work closely with each other and develop a strong rapport with faculty members. Students entering together will follow the same class schedule during their three years in the program.

    Experienced Monmouth Faculty

Students in Monmouth's PA program will learn from faculty members who have extensive knowledge and experience as PAs and physicians. The PA faculty at Monmouth have over 50 years' combined experience teaching physician assistant students. Dr. Carol Biscardi, the PA program director, has been a full-time PA educator for 22 years and has served as a program director for ten years.

Additionally, the program's co-medical directors are experienced in post-graduate medical education training. Dr. Kenneth Faistl is program director of the Family Practice Residency program at Mountainside Hospital, and Dr. Joseph DePasquale is fellowship coordinator for the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program at St. Michael's Medical Center in Newark.

    Student Leadership

The Monmouth University Physician Assistant Student Society (MUPASS) is a student society associated with the Student Academy of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. The society is one hundred percent directed by physician assistant (PA) students to benefit the PA students at Monmouth University, as well as any undergraduate students who are interested in the PA profession. Our goal is to promote academic achievement and clinical excellence throughout our education and future careers. In addition, we want to promote the PA as a critical member of the health care team, and endorse PAs as integral participants in local and national community service and outreach programs.  Click here for the MUPASS website.
