Dr. Faistl is a Board Certified Family Physician with added qualifications in geriatrics. He is also board certified in addiction medicine. Born and raised in New Jersey, Dr. Faistl completed his undergraduate education at Seton Hall University and medical school at the College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, now Rutgers Medical School. He has been actively practicing family medicine in Monmouth County for 36 years, and in 2005 founded the Rutgers affiliated Family Medicine Residency training program at CentraState Medical Center. This training program has placed over 50 new new family physicians in the community.
In December 2013, Dr. Faistl accepted the position of the Director of Family Medicine Residency program at Hackensack University Medical Center/Mountainside where he trains, directs, and provides strategy to the hospital system's primary care initiatives.
An advocate for family medicine, Dr. Faistl has served on virtually every committee of the New Jersey Academy, including president and chairman of the board. In 2011, he was recognized as the New Jersey Family Physician of the Year. Dr. Faistl has served on the Board of Trustees of CentraState Medical Center, the VNA of Central Jersey, and chairs the Colts Neck Township Board of Health. He was recently named to the Board of Trustees of Hackensack University Medical Center/Mountainside Hospital. He is the medical director of New Hope Foundation, a residential and outpatient alcohol and drug rehab facility in Marlboro, New Jersey.
His interests are in "team-based" medical delivery systems, electronic health records, quality care reporting, and the training of medical professionals using objective competency based methods.
