    John Henning,

Welcome to the School of Education website at Monmouth University! Whether you are a prospective or current student, parent, community partner, alumnus, or simply a friend, I invite you to browse through the School of Education webpages. We take pride in serving as a leader in the preparation of educational professionals, including teachers, administrators, speech pathologists, counselors, and reading specialists.

Our approach to the preparation of educators is deeply rooted in Monmouth University’s commitment to transformative learning. Accordingly, the School of Education partners with an extensive network of professional educators, offers students an array of diverse cultural experiences both locally and internationally, and provides sustained, in-depth clinical experiences in professional settings. These experiences are intertwined with coursework containing the latest and most powerful ideas in the field.

As you browse these pages, please take time to view the impressive list of faculty accomplishments in teaching, scholarship and service. These achievements exemplify the faculty’s commitment to life long learning, the use of 21st Century teaching and learning skills, and social justice in a highly pluralistic society. School of Education faculty members are consummate exemplars of the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed by new professionals as they begin their careers.

To maintain their level of excellence, the School of Education faculty work closely with an outstanding group of professional and community partners that includes, among others, preschools, schools, universities, medical centers, specialized children’s hospitals, inpatient rehabs, rehabilitation centers, adult care centers, private speech language pathology practices, and aphasia centers. These partnerships facilitate the transition of Monmouth graduates from higher education to a career in professional practice, while simultaneously providing vital services to the community. They also make possible the collaborative development of research projects, cutting edge instructional approaches, and innovative program designs.

Today’s highly competitive world offers substantial challenges for educators and the field of education. We see these challenges as opportunities for continued innovation and further professional growth. Together, School of Education students, faculty, parents, partners, alumni, and friends are confidently moving forward to meet these challenges in a new era of discovery, rapid change, and social progress.
