Monmouth University Dean Kenneth Womack’s “Beatles Encyclopedia” Named One of the Best Indie Books of the Year

The Beatles Encyclopedia: Everything Fab Four by Kenneth Womack, Ph.D., dean of the Monmouth University Wayne D. McMurray School of Humanities and Social Sciences, was honored in Foreword Reviews’ annual INDIEFAB Book of the Year Awards for the best indie books of 2014. Representing hundreds of independent and university presses of all sizes, the winners were selected after months of editorial deliberation over more than 1,500 entries in 63 categories.

Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Honorable Mention awards were determined by a panel of librarians and booksellers and announced at a special program during the American Library Association Annual Conference in San Francisco on June 26, 2015. Published in two volumes by Greenwood Press, The Beatles Encyclopedia earned a Silver medal in the Reference (Adult Nonfiction) category.

Womack is the author or editor of three previous books about the famed British rock band, including Reading the Beatles: Cultural Studies, Literary Criticism, and the Fab Four (2006), Long and Winding Roads: The Evolving Artistry of the Beatles (2007), and the Cambridge Companion to the Beatles (2009). Womack’s next Beatles-related work involves a biography of George Martin, the group’s legendary producer.
