The Jewish Cultural Studies Program at Monmouth University seeks to create a space for cross-cultural communication and understanding of the global Jewish community. The global Jewish community reflects the diversity and richness of the broader global community, and our mission is to explore this diversity in its fullest context; examining Jewish communities in Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, and South America equally.
Similarly, this understanding will be achieved through the development of a deeper understanding of the nature of Jewish communities across the world and throughout time. To situate the global within the local experience, we seek to understand and archive the local Jewish community in New Jersey, specifically, that of Monmouth County. Tying together the threads of Jewish history allows us as academics, students, and community members the ability to better understand our world today, our collective past, and our hopeful future.
